Community Art of Living Mindfully — “CALM”
BCALM is pleased to offer a private mindfulness-based stress management course!
This new group, Community Art of Living Mindfully (CALM), is offered to provide service to community members who would like to develop a Mindfulness practice, but do not fit the diagnostic criteria for a physician referral required for MSP funding.
The CALM program is about you and your life. The course provides a firm grounding in mindfulness based strategies to navigate stress and in recognizing patterns of thought, speech and behaviour that contribute to stress. A major component of this course is home meditation practice in order to embody concepts learned in class and to then apply them to life. Exercises focusing on mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy complement the meditation practice. The course includes a manual and guided meditation CD.

1. Yoga and Meditation Saturday Feb 10, 3:00 – 4:30 pm
Experience the convergence of the ancient practices of Yoga & Meditation with the latest research in neuroscience. Understand from current neuroscience & trauma research why yoga and meditation are so powerful. As we begin to open the body, calm the mind, and regulate the nervous system, we can cultivate wholesome states of mind and experience ourselves as loving presence. Come as you are, leave connected to the highest vision of yourself. All levels welcome.
2. Yoga and Tarot (with Sukumar Periwal) Sunday Feb 11, 4:30 – 6:00 pm
The practice of yoga uses the body (form) to connect with the formless (essence, spirit). The Tarot cards are a doorway into the realm of what lies beneath our conscious awareness. Tarot points to things we cannot see or don’t want to see. Experience the integration of Yoga and Tarot to access a deeper personal and collective truth.
